Righteousness

Are you righteous? If you had asked me that when I was a new Christian,I would undoubtedly have answered,"No, of course not!". I thought that anyone who would say yes was boastful.
After studying the Word, I would now have to answer yes.
Why?
because the word says I am. According to the dictionary righteous is defined as being without sin or guilt. Does that apply to the Christian? Of course it does.
Come study and see for yourself. Our only authority is the Bible.(see basic truths)

Roma 4:20 (KJS) He staggered not at the promise of God through unbelief; but was strong in faith, giving glory to God;
21 And being fully persuaded that, what he had promised, he was able also to perform.
22 And therefore it was imputed to him for righteousness.
23 Now it was not written for his sake alone, that it was imputed to him;
24 But for us also, to whom it shall be imputed, if we believe on him that raised up Jesus our Lord from the dead;
25 Who was delivered for our offences, and was raised again for our justification.

Righteousness does not come from doing good works, but from faith in God. Abraham believed God despite what he saw. In the natural,what God had promised was impossible. But he believed in a God who could do the supernatural. He believed that what was promised God not only could, but would do.
Matt 19:26 (KJS) But Jesus beheld [them], and said unto them, With men this is impossible; but with God all things are possible.
We can not earn our righteousness. Roma 5:18 (KJS) Therefore as by the offence of one [judgment came] upon all men to condemnation; even so by the righteousness of one [the free gift came] upon all men unto justification of life.
Roma 10:10 (KJS) For with the heart man believeth unto righteousness; and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

Just as Abraham who believed and was declared righteous, so are we if we believe in God. We are no longer miserable sinners but the righteousness of God in Christ.
Roma 3:22 (KJS) Even the righteousness of God [which is] by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:
Phil 3:9 (KJS) And be found in him, not having mine own righteousness, which is of the law, but that which is through the faith of Christ, the righteousness which is of God by faith:
1Cor 1:30 (KJS) But of him are ye in Christ Jesus, who of God is made unto us wisdom, and righteousness, and sanctification, and redemption:

So what have we learned? --That we are the righteousness of God in Christ.But the knowledge of that is not enough. We must believe it, confess it, and live it by renewing our mind.

Confess that you are righteous every day.
